All Ships Reunion 2010
« on: 11 Jan, 2009, 10:18 »
We will be holding an "All Ships Reunion" in Palmerston North over the Labour weekend of 2010. All shipmates are very welcome , this includes serving personnel as well so please pass the message on and look forward to a most enjoyable weekend.
It will be run along similar lines to the 2003 Cruiser Reunion that was very successful and attracted a very good turn-out.
The venues will be the RSA in Broadway Avenue and the Navy Club in Domain street. We will be setting up the registration details and activities very soon, but in the meantime please feel free to contact myself at
exnavy@inspire.net.nz or on my mobile 027 2430427. My home phone no is (06) 3540479, in the evenings, or write to P.O. Box 834 Palmerston North.
The Nvay Club is open on Fridays at 1600, Saturdays at 1600 and Sundays at 1100, so please drop into see us if you are passing through Palmerston North, you will be made very welcome.

Yours Aye  Dave Leese

Hi all.
I have just returned home after a very enjoyable weekend at the All Ships reunion at Palmerston North. As usual Dave Leese and the guys there put on a good show. We were made to feel very welcome both at the RSA, where the staff went out of their way to accommodate a large group of ex Matelots in varying states of sobriety, and also at the Navy Club where the hospitality was at its usual high standard. I managed to pass on 20 of our berets while I was there so the Grey Brigade gets bigger.
Thanks very much for your hospitality Palmerston North

having attended the all ships reunion in Palmerston north and having had a great weekend i feel this is the way to go in the future as most of us still around served on multiple drafts and it is out of the question to expect pepole to attend more than one reunion a year
Especially those of us across the ditch the cost is over budget to most . With this in mind i would recommend a permanent committee be elected to run a regular all ships reunion on a yearly basis , maybe one year in the north island and one in the south with maybe one every third year in Australia as long as the members turned up , (unlike the unanimous vote in 2007 to hold the tiddly T 2009 in Melbourne where only eight turned out ) at least when we say we will be there from over here we do turn up
Enough said on that ,so what  is the general concensus on a permanent all ships reunion being held annually

some place we can parade would be great...Papakura and the likes, would allow that on their very own roadways for instance
